HEA LAPS
(2022-2025)
Some illustrations I have created over the years for the Estonian children's magazine Hea Laps. Some of these illustrations have been featured on the magazine's front cover, while others have been used to illustrate various poems within the publication.
This illustration was featured in the March 2025 issue of Hea Laps children's magazine and illustrates poems by Estonian poets Wimberg and Tarmo Vaarmets.
Illustration for Hea Laps children's magazine front cover. February 2024. It was inspired by Vastlapäev (in Estonian), also known as Shrove Tuesday. Traditionally, on this day, people enjoy whipped cream buns, similar to the one the dog in my illustration is holding. Sledging is also a significant part of the tradition—it was believed that the longer the sledge ride, the longer the flax stalks would grow in the fields the following summer. That's why you can see the kids in my illustration measuring their sledging distance.
This illustration was featured in the September 2023 issue of Hea Laps children's magazine and illustrates poems by Estonian poets Ülle Kütsen, Aimar Seller and Tarmo Vaarmets. All the poems are inspired by the start of the school year, which in Estonia is 1st of September.
